Itinerary
Your holiday begins today as you arrive at London St Pancras International, where you meet the Tour Manager and your group of fellow travellers. Together, we join the train to Paris, travelling in style in spacious Eurostar Plus, where we are served a light meal at our seats.
Changing trains in the French capital, we continue by First Class rail to Turin in northern Italy. This city of Baroque architecture has an incredible history, and as we approach this evening, you may notice its Alpine backdrop, which only adds to the overall charm of the region.
A coach transfer takes us to our hotel on arrival, and after checking in for the night, we walk to a nearby restaurant for our first three-course dinner together.

We took this trip in October, and had a great time. Judith, our guide was amazing, as were several of the local guides, a couple of the guides weren't great (Rome and Taormina) but it didn't really detract from our enjoyment. One of the trains was cancelled, and there was no back up plan, which led us to have a crowded and scary train ride on a local train due to the conditions and locals! We had an amazing time with the other travellers, and overall we had a fantastic time.

A great trip, taking in all the most important parts of the country. Lots of train travel during which we met some interesting people! Hotels were on the whole good and central, so easy to do our own exploring after the guided tours. And plenty of opportunities to sample that Italian cucina!

This was a great trip and our tour manager Judy was outstanding. There were a few disappointing issues however. The local tour guides we had in Rome and in Taormina were awful. Very disappointed that a company that runs multiple iterations of this tour doesn't use the same high quality local guides for each one. The local guides we had in Pisa and Pompei were incredible and are what I would expect at each location. Another issue was the hotel we were moved to in Sorrento when the Hilton that was listed on the itinerary was taken over for a government conference. What we were moved to was not a comparable 4 star hotel. It might rate 3 stars, but the fact that it was located outside of town and required a shuttle bus that only ran about once an hour also limited our ability to fully explore Sorento. The most serious issue on the trip ended up placing all of us in a dangerous situation. The express train that we had reserved seats on to return from Pompei was cancelled at the last minute. Our tour manager tried to work with the local ground agent, but it was apparent that there was no back up plan for this situation. We ended up boarding the next local train (that was already running late). We were crammed on the train like sardines with no AC or ventilation. It didn't take long until the temperatures were causing health issues with some in our group. The second issue with this train was when we arrived in the station at Sorrento, the end of the line. People lined up at the doors and immediately began shoving their way onto the already fully packed train as soon as the doors opened and they did not allow anyone to get off. This turned into a very dangerous situation for some of the more frail members of the group. While this was not the fault of our tour manager or the tour company, the fact that they did not have any plans to deal with train cancellations of delays that placed all of us into that situation was extremely disappointing.

The top to toe of Italy tour that we went on was fantastic! Everything was planned and perfectly choreographed by our tour guide, Judith! The folks in our group were so sweet and really fun to get to know! I can't wait to plan another trip with this company!
